Weill Cornell Medical College’s new research facility, Belfer Research Building, was designed as a cutting-edge extension to the institution’s existing facilities.  Ennead Architects created a flexible, transparent, open and easily adaptable environment throughout the building spanning 13 floors of laboratories, three floors of academic programs and two floors of research support space. Meeting and exceeding standards set by the US Green Building Council was a priority throughout the design, including energy efficient HVAC, lighting control, water conservation systems, sun-shading devices and a high-performance double-skinned, fritted-glass curtain wall which envelops the building.
