Spartan's Wacky Wednesday | A Tale of Two Managers - Spartan Surfaces

What do Spartan CFO Adam Gable and Freaky Friday celeb Jamie Lee Curtis have in common? They’ve both accidentally switched bodies with someone! In this tribute to Freaky Friday, and in honor of the release of Freakier Friday, Spartan presents “Wacky Wednesday | A Tale of Two Managers.”

A Day That Begins Like Any Other

For Spartan CFO Adam Gable, punching numbers and living in an excel spreadsheet is second nature. Complicated algorithms have always just made sense to him, but his world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. As the company grows, the numbers get bigger – the profits get higher but so do the expenses. Behind every possibility, Adam sees liability. He’s constantly pressured from every angle – if only he worked in the warehouse. Picking drives on maps all day, handling gorgeous tile, driving that cool forklift. What a luxury!

Chris Svrjcek, begins his day without coffee – it’s an early morning and he didn’t have time to brew. As Senior Manager of Distribution, early mornings are a normal pain. Trucks leave the warehouse before most people even get to work, and he’s responsible for every map, every drop off and pick up from dawn til dusk. An order gets lost, a map is wrong, a delivery late, and all before coffee! How cool would it be, he thinks, to have a cushy desk job. Like accounting! How cool would it be to get up after the sun, grab coffee on the way to work, skip into my office with a smile. Do some work in an excel doc, announce record profits and call it a day. What a luxury!

The Switch

Finally, Chris finds five minutes in his day to take a break and grab coffee. Adam had to get away from his desk after an ask that’s just not possible. As they both walk towards much needed caffeine, they collide! A strike of astronomical lighting occurs!! Weird, they both think. They both go on about their walk as if nothing happened, but later in the mirror, things look….freaky. Chris is Adam and Adam is Chris! Chaos ensues. They each realize they have to fulfill their day as if everything is normal, because no one else can tell that anything has changed.

CHRIS | Spartan’s CFO

Chris sits down Adam’s chair. He looks like Adam, he sounds like Adam – he’s even wearing Adam’s tailored jacket. To everyone else, he is  Adam. While things are clearly wrong, there are bigger fish to fry. The chair is comfy. The office is big. The desk is tall. The bird situation is hilarious. The entire accounting building is well air-conditioned. Life is good.

Suddenly, Abby needs numbers – Chris doesn’t know the numbers. He stares at an open excel doc and realizes he can’t even try to figure this out. Spartan’s CEO messages him with an ASAP request for earnings he doesn’t know how to access. The chair is comfy, but the throne is thorny. He’s got to get back to his own job, his own body! What a wacky Wednesday.

ADAM | Wayward in the Warehouse

Adam is immediately confused. He wanders around the warehouse aimlessly, quickly becoming overwhelmed with the sheer volume of products. The air is sticky, he pulls on Chris’ polo shirt and realizes he misses the air conditioning. He tries to grab something from a pallet but he can’t even work the forklift. Not a single math formula in site, Adam is out of his element. He breaks tile immediately, as if he’s never done his own job in his entire life – because, unbeknownst to his staff, he really hasn’t.

Maps are confusing, trucks are everywhere, products are piled to the ceiling, Tim is asking question after question – Adam quickly loses the ability to act like everything is fine. In the beginning he thought this could have been fun. They have to switch back, and fast – he’s had enough of this wacky Wednesday.

The Clash

In a frenzied attempt to switch back, the two meet in the warehouse with newfound respect for the other. They must collide, like they did on the sidewalk before! Readying themselves for a switch, they get a running start and hit at full speed! Did they successfully switch back and end their wacky wednesday, or are they still in the wrong bodies, having to figure life out as the other seemingly forever?? The world may never know….
